Performing Arts

From Bach to bluegrass, ballet to funk, local artists to international performers, Rockingham County and the Harrisonburg Metro Area have both the fine arts and an energetic nightlife. The Forbes Center for the Performing Arts at James Madison University hosts a full calendar of performances for arts lovers of all types. Recent and upcoming performances include The Barber of Seville, Moscow Festival Ballet, Metropolitan Opera Rising Stars and more. And every year in June, classical music aficionados gather for the Bach Festival at Eastern Mennonite University.

Wine, Beer & Cider

Rockingham County is a true connoisseurs’ destination for wine and craft brews. CrossKeys Vineyards in Mt. Crawford and Bluestone Vineyard in Bridgewater both offer tours and tastings to introduce the wines of the Shenandoah Valley. And our Shenandoah Valley Wine Trail is a remarkably charming self-guided tour of practically everything the region serves in a wine glass.  Don’t miss Old Hill Hard Cider in Timberville or one of our many craft breweries the area has to offer.
 
The area is full of great events from ValleyFest Beer & Wine Festival, The Mountain Jamboree, Rocktown Beer & Music Festival to the nationally known Red Wing Roots Music festival.  Aside from the obvious imbibing, the events also include live music, activities and some of the Valley’s best culinary offerings.
