  • Area Tourism Initiatives Awarded $92,000 In State Grants

    HARRISONBURG — Gov. Ralph Northam awarded $92,000 in matching grants to several tourism initiatives in the Valley on Thursday.
    The grants are part of the Virginia Tourism Corporation's Marketing Leverage Program.

     

    The grants are designed to help local and regional groups attract more visitors by leveraging a local match of the state grants funds.

     

    The biggest area grant was $50,000 for Waynesboro's marketing experience.

     

    Other regional recipients included: the Shenandoah Valley Travel Association, $25,000; Muse Vineyards near Woodstock, $10,000; Blue Ridge Bucha of Waynesboro, $5,000; SoLace Studios Fine Handcrafts in Elkton, $2,500.
